COBDEN, Ill. (AP) -- Peach growers in southern Illinois say they're expecting a good season.
Peach growers say the spring and summer weather should benefit the peach harvest, which is set for July.
Larry Flamm runs Flamm Orchards in Cobden. He says the weather has largely helped this season even though there's been a little bit too much rain. He says peaches do well in the warm weather and he's started harvesting.
Betty Sirles of Rendleman Orchards in Alto Pass says she's seen good pollinating this year for peach and apple trees. She's been in the business for 46 years and says she had "a huge bloom this spring." The orchard has been open for 136 years.
Sirles says the orchard has been thinning peaches from trees to create the best harvest fruit.
