(KMOV) – A man is dead following a drowning at the Holiday Shores Lake in Edwardsville, Illinois.

Joshua Harrop, 22, of the 2000 block of Treasure Drive was boating with his wife and a group of friends shortly after midnight on Saturday when he reportedly went missing in the water following a storm.

According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, a storm hit the area while Harrop and two other men were in the water. One of the men told investigators that he stayed on the boat and was able to find two of the three men by the light from lightning strikes. He was unable to find Harrop.

A search for Harrop began shortly after several calls were made to 911. Harrop’s body was recovered from the lake around 1:45 a.m.

Investigators say it appears Harrop is the victim of drowning, but an autopsy will be conducted to give a final conclusion.
