(KMOV) – A Madison County man was arrested Wednesday morning for disorderly conduct and owning a gun even though he’s a convicted felon.
Madison County police responded to a disturbance call at the home of James Staggs, 51, of Cottage Hills, Illinois.
According to police, Staggs was arguing with his wife and swinging a baseball bat at family members.
Deputies learned that there was a .25 caliber firearm in the home. Staggs was convicted of burglary in 1998 and is not allowed to own firearms.
Staggs received a felony charge of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.
He was held at Madison County Jail pending formal charges. Bond was set at $40,000.
