(KMOV) – A jury has convicted two men of charges of murder for hire of a St. Louis man.
James Kornhardt and Steven Mueller were convicted of conspiracy to commit murder for hire and murder for hire in connection with the murder of Danny Coleman on October 22, 1992, officials said.
Danny Coleman’s wife, Karen Coleman, pleaded guilty to the same charges on June 3, officals said.
Karen Coleman had hired a prison inmate to arrange for the murder of husband, according to evidence presented at the trial. The inmate, Larry Nolan, recruited Kornhardt and Mueller to commit the murder, according to the presented evidence.
Kornhardt and Mueller murdered Danny Coleman after he left work on October 22, 1992, according to court evidence. The evidence also indicated that Karen Coleman began collecting on certain insurance policies following her husband’s murder and paid Kornhardt and Mueller for their respective roles in the murder.
Each defendant faces a mandatory minimum sentence of life in prison.
