(KMOV) – An Illinois woman has been arrested after begging for money and stealing.
Linda Towell, 45, of Greenville, Illinois is charged with three felony counts of theft under $300.
According to police, between May 27 and June 9, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office received several reports of a woman knocking on doors begging for gas money.
On Saturday, June 12, police received another report of a female asking for money. The woman fit the description of the suspect. The caller took down her license plate number and gave it to police. The car belonged to Towell.
Towell was arrested and charged with theft. In three of the cases where Towell begged for money she actually stole from the victims when they weren’t looking.
Towell is currently on parole for burglary. She is being held at the Madison County Jail.
Her bond is set at $50,000.
