Violent night in north St. Louis leaves one dead, five shot

(KMOV) – A violent crime spree with multiple shootings in separate areas of north St. Louis left one man dead and five others injured overnight.

Police say around 11 p.m. on Saturday, 41-year-old Ira Summers of the 5100 block of St. Louis Ave. was found lying in the street in the 1100 block of Hodiamont Ave. He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the hospital. No witnesses have come forward in this case.

Two teen-aged males were victims in the next reported shooting that happened at 11:30 on Saturday night in the 2700 block of Burd Ave. One victim was shot in the head, the other in the chest. Both are in critical condition. Police say the two teens were walking down the street when they were shot by a passing car. The shots fired also hit a building and several other cars. Witnesses have yet to come forth in this case as well.

Shortly after midnight, police report that two men, ages 22 and 30, walked into an area hospital with shooting wounds. The victims said they were standing outside in the 3800 block of Labadie Ave. when someone drove by and shot them.

Just before 7 a.m. Sunday morning, homicide was called to the 600 block of Walton Ave. where a man in his 40s had been shot. He survived the shooting, and his injuries are now considered to be non-life threatening.
