Some scary moments today at the Route 66 Festival in Edwardsville. A strong storm came barreling through late this afternoon. Tents were blown over. Chairs went flying. People had to scramble to get into the nearby library building for shelter.
The good news in all of this is that there were no injuries. Unfortunately, the festival had to be canceled. We talked with Bob Pfeiffer the director of Parks & Recreation in Edwardsville. He says that the festival has been around for perhaps 13 years and to the best of his recollection it's never been canceled before.
We also went through parts of Edwardsville and saw some minor street flooding as well as power outages. The stoplights were out as well. Utility crews were already at working trying to get power restored
