MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. (AP) -- A worker at a St. Louis County recycling company has died after getting caught in a compactor machine.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the victim is 43-year-old Mario Montoya of St. Louis County.
The accident happened about 2:50 a.m. Sunday at the Resource Management plant in the Maryland Heights area. A co-worker heard Montoya call for help and found him inside a baler compactor machine used for recycling paper.
Terry Ledbetter of the St. Louis County Medical Examiner's office says workers were able to free Montoya, but he died about an hour later at a hospital.
