JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri transportation officials say they're more than halfway through a program to repair or replace 802 of the state's worst bridges.
The Department of Transportation says 410 bridges have been rebuilt or repaired since the work began in 2009. The total includes 14 bridges that opened to traffic last week.
Agency officials say the work is ahead of schedule and should be complete by the end of 2012. The original goal was to finish the bridge work by sometime in 2013.
