(KMOV.com) -- Police in the Metro-East have arrested a suspect  they say hit multiple cars.

Highland Police said the latest victim, Michele McPhillips, had her purse stolen from her car as her two young daughters were selling Girl Scout cookies. McPhillips said making sure her purse was safe in her car was the last thing she thought about.

“Right away, I didn’t notice it,” McPhillips said, “But when I got home I went to get my stuff out of the car and I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, where’s my purse?’”

Highland Police allege Maria Haider, 50, stole the purse. Investigators believe she allegedly did it to support her gambling problem.

McPhillips said she was lucky to discover her purse stolen and was able to call her credit card company.

Haider is facing charges for forgery and multiple burglaries.

“It could be anybody,” said McPhillips, “And you’re like they have our address just all your personal information.”
