(KMOV) – The Warren County R-III School District is crediting an anonymous text line for helping decrease fighting by 90 percent at one of its schools.

The CyberBully hotline, created by St. Louis-based company SchoolReach, was introduced in the district in 2012. The hotline gives students the ability to anonymously text bullying behavior to school administrators.

Black Hawk Middle School Associated Principal Shawn Kelsch discovered the hotline and worked to implement it in order to reduce school violence. Warrenton High School also utilizes the text line.

According to district officials, fighting has decreased by 90 percent at Black Hawk Middle School since implementing the hotline.

The school was recently awarded for Excellence in New Communications from the Society for New Communications Research.
