Hitchcock not happy with Blues

(HockeySTL) -- His team may be 32-9-5 on the season with an NHL best goal differential of +60, but Ken Hitchcock isn’t happy. He’s seen his team lose two of their last three games, and was especially bothered by the way they played in Thursday’s loss to the L.A. Kings.

“I’m kind of getting sick of watching it, “ said Hitchcock. “If we’re going to figure this out we’re going to have to have more people coming up a lot bigger. Otherwise we’re going to be in the same boat Saturday night against Anaheim unless we get a change of attitude.”

Hitchcock was expecting a more inspired effort from the Blues against Los Angeles, the team that eliminated them from the playoffs the past two years. “We needed to step up. This was a really good challenge for us and we needed to step up. Nothing against the other teams we’ve beat, this was a significant opponent and I wanted to see us step up to another level and we didn’t.”

The Blues will get a chance to redeem themselves in Hitchcock’s eyes on Saturday night when they take on an Anaheim team that owns the best record in the NHL at 36-8-5.
