(KMOV) – Police and prosecutors say gun-related crimes are one of the biggest problems facing the St. Louis community.
Last year, city officials pushed hard for a special gun docket giving those cases more priority and higher bonds.
But most circuit court judges in the city voted against it so it was not put in place.
This week, judges in the city’s criminal courts started using their own system to focus more attention on gun cases.
The judges are trying to move cases through the system faster but refused to set aside a special docket to handle only those cases.
