(KMOV) – A man was taken into custody after authorities say he shot at an off-duty police officer in south St. Louis Monday morning.

Police say the off-duty officer was in the 3600 block of Primm around 2 a.m. when he saw people inside a nearby vehicle acting suspicious.

Authorities say the suspect’s vehicle sped off and circled around the block. It then stopped and someone inside fired shots in the officer’s direction.

The officer broadcasted the incident over the radio and police pulled the vehicle over near the intersection of Germania and Morganford around 2 a.m.

A 23-year-old man was arrested at the scene. Officers recovered a gun, which was later determined to be stolen.
