(KMOV) – Sixteen East St. Louis police officers aren’t returning to work anytime soon. The city laid off the officers because of budget cuts.
City officials offered a proposal that would put the officers back to work, but it would involve a 10 percent pay cut for all of the police officers.
The police union rejected that offer.
As a result, the force is being reduced to 46 officers. This is down from 62 officers.
