Fox High School students train for future tornado

(KMOV)-- Local students trained Thursday morning to prepare if a tornado were to hit during school hours.

The Student Emergency Response Team at Fox High Schoolwas given a scenario where they had to get injured students to safety and start to treat them until firefighters and EMT’s arrived.

This training comes in response to the tornado that struck Sunset Hills on New Year’s Eve measuring a F3 on the Fujita Scale.

The Rock Community Fire Protection District trains teens in nine area schools in search and rescue, and first aid. They said the day could come when they have to rely on teenage trainees in case professional emergency workers cannot get to their school right away.
