(KMOV) -- Two suspects wearing Halloween masks robbed a Metro-East convenience store early Thursday morning.

The two men entered the Phillips 66 on Route 159 around 12:30 p.m., one of them said he had a gun and demanded money from the store owner.  No weapon was ever displayed.

The owner tells News 4 he took a chance and pushed a button that called police, then dropped to the ground.  That's when the two suspects ran away, empty-handed.

Caseyville police are investigating, but so far no arrests.

The store did have surveillance cameras.  News 4 is working to get those images.  Keep checking KMOV.com throughout the morning for updates.
