(KMOV) – The St. Clair County deputies union says it would rather have 15 members lose their jobs, than take the latest contract offer from the county. Tuesday evening, they unanimously rejected the county’s counter-proposal. The county was offering a total of 9.5 percent raised over five years. That’s instead of the three years deputies wanted. There is still time to reach a compromise. The layoffs aren’t scheduled to take effect until January 15.
