(KMOV) – Most families are heading back to work and back to school this week, but others are digging through the rubble at their tornado-ravaged homes.
On New Year’s Eve, 11 tornadoes hit the St. Louis area. The strongest were EF 3 storms, meaning they had winds of up to 165 miles per hour. One tornado hit in Rolla, another in Sunset Hills. People have dropped off items at City Hall for the tornado victims, but no one has requested them yet. The victims not only have to figure out what they need, but where they would put the items. As far as monetary donations, the administration is doing need assessment to determine who’s insured and who isn’t. Some renters in the area did not have coverage. City hall also says none of the money will go toward paying for the city’s services.
