(KMOV) – The Missouri Highway Patrol says troopers will be out in full force this New Year’s Eve weekend.
They will be targeting drunk drivers on the interstates and highways.
Troopers normally scheduled off on the weekend will be working.
Officials say there will be no warnings. Those who drive intoxicated will be arrested and taken to jail. “[There will be] no warnings whatsoever,” says Al Nothum of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. “You will be arrested, taken to jail, your vehicle will be towed in most cases and it will ruin your New Year’s [holiday]. “You'll start your new year off at the minimum spending a lot of money."
The highway patrol has arrested more than 1,500 intoxicated drivers so far in 2010.
