(KMOV) – The recent shooting death of 17-year-old Ranisha Cole has spurred people in the St. Louis community to try and put an end to the violent crime in the area.
Community activists and local rappers plan to hold a town hall meeting Thursday night at St. John’s Church at 4136 North Grand Blvd in north St. Louis. The meeting will being at 7 p.m. and is open to anyone interested in attending.
The organizers of this event say it’s important to reach out to young teens and express the importance of finishing school and getting a job.
The meeting will also share information about job opportunities throughout the community to help those involved in crime out of a negative situation and into a positive one.
Organizers say St. Louis should be known as a positive and safe city rather than a violent and dangerous one. They say they way to change this perception is to offer resources and alternatives to those in need of a better life.
