(KMOV) – Officials with the Missouri Highway Patrol say that fatalities this Christmas season are down compared to 2009 where 11 people were killed and 148 were injured. This year two were killed and 122 were injured.
The two fatal accidents both happened Sunday near Lee’s Summit and Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Catherine Binger, 49, was killed when the vehicle she was driving ran off the road and struck a tree. This happened on Missouri Route W, 13 miles north of Poplar Bluff, officials say. Officials also report that Binger was not wearing a seat belt.
The second crash happened in Benton County on Highway 65. Authorities have not released any other details about this crash.
