(KMOV) – A 33-year-old man from St. Louis was reportedly driving a trator-trailer truch the wrong way in I-70 near Limon, Colorado when he allegedly killed a 71-year-old man, officals say.
Colorado State Patrol says the semi was driven by Jason Ross, 33, of St. Louis.
Authorities say they received a call around 8 p.m., Sunday, saying that a semi was heading west, on the eastbound lanes of I-70. Troopers add that the semi did not have its lights on.
Martin Hernandez of Lamar, Colorado was killed immediately, after being hit head-on by the semi.
Colorado State Patrol say a 77-year-old woman and a 9-year-old girl were seriously injured and transferred to an area hospital.
Interstate-70 was shut down until 1 a.m., Monday,
Authorities believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. Ross is in Elbert County, Colorado Jail.
The Colorado State Patrol continue to investigate the fatal crash.
