St. Louis (KMOV) – Police have a 17-year-old in custody in connection with a shooting outside a St. Louis nightclub that claimed the life of a teenage girl.
Ranisha Cole, 17, was killed in the shooting around 10:20 p.m. Christmas night. Police said a crowd of teenagers was standing outside "The Pulse" night club on North Broadway. The teens gathered outside the club after word spead the club was hosting a party. The club, an 18-and-up venue, denied entry to the teenagers.
Police say two cars drove onto the parking lot and suspects inside began shooting. It's not clear what motivated the shooting or if the occupants in the cars were targetting each other or the people standing outside the club.
According to investigators, Cole was inside one of the vehicles when she was shot in the stomach and chest. The car sped from the scene and Cole was later dropped off an a hospital where she died.
All of the other victims were standing outside the club. A sixteen-year-old boy was shot in the neck and is believed to be paralyzed. Eight other victims, between 14 and 18 years old, were treated and released from the hospital.
