WARRENTON, Mo. (AP) -- Police are looking into the puzzling disappearance of 25-year-old University of Missouri-Columbia student. Nicholas Michael Coppola.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Coppola hasn't been seen by relatives since December 10.
On December 12, his car was found abandoned on Interstate 70 near Warrenton, about 45 miles west of St. Louis. He was arrested that same day after an apparent break-in at a Wright City home. Police say his car had run out of gas and he broke into the home seeking shelter from the cold.
But Coppola's wallet and cell phone were left in his car.
Coppola was jailed, then released after the homeowner declined to press charges.
Police now believe he may be staying in the Warrenton area, perhaps in an abandoned building or vacant home.
