HILLSBORO, Mo. (AP) -- A St. Louis-area jail inmate is hospitalized in critical condition after a fight over food.
The fight happened just before 2 p.m. Saturday at the Jefferson County Jail. Sheriff Glenn Boyer says a 21-year-old inmate from House Springs was knocked out in the fight. He suffered a concussion and brain swelling.
Boyer did not know specifics of what started the fight except it involved food. He said fights over food are common in the jail.
Names of the victim and suspect have not been released.
