St. Louis (KMOV) – Police are looking for two suspects after a man was shot to death in his home Saturday evening.

Michael Hayes, 32, was killed in his home in the 4500 block of Alice in St. Louis just after 9 p.m. Saturday.

Hayes' family says the victim received a call from his neighbor telling him two people broke into his apartment. Hayes rushed home and ran right into the burglars who were trying to carry out a TV. The neighbor told Hayes' sister he heard Hayes confront the burglars.

"He heard him run up the stairs and he heard a shot. Then he heard the two guys run out through the back. He said he came to the door and called for my brother but he didn't respond." said Anita Watson.

Officers responded to the scene and found the front door open and the victim’s body in a bedroom. He was shot in the neck.

"It's just a senseless crime," said Watson.

Watson said her brother was an aspiring musician who went by the stage name of "The Amazin' Mac Haze".

"All he wanted to do was live the American dream. Basically, have a nice house, nice car, nice job."

The suspects are described as black males, in their 20s with medium complexions.

One suspect wore a "New Era" baseball cap. He had short black hair and a finely trimmed side burns and beard.

The other suspect wore dark pants.

Both men are described as being about 5 feet, 8 inches and around 160 pounds.
