Jeff Abeln breaks down Rams' game against Chiefs

(KMOV) -- I know it's only preseason, but Friday's exhibition was the most meaningful game and it was thoroughly reassuring to see Sam Bradford and his offense come out and produce.

The Rams put together a 12 play, 73 yard opening drive which resulted with Bradford hooking up with Mike Sims-Walker for a touchdown.  The second drive of the game consisted of 10 plays, 60 yards, and Bradford connecting with rookie tight end Lance Kendricks; Kendricks' second preseason TD.  Oh and by the way, mixed in between scores, Steven Jackson shrugged off some of the rust he displayed against the Titans.  Jack wound up rushing for 72 yards on 15 carries.  Head Coach Steve Spagnuolo said last week he isn't sure if Jack will play Thursday in Jacksonville during the final preseason game.

Former Mizzou standout Danario Alexander had a couple of dropped passes. I saw one he should have caught. You never know how healthy he really is, so I wonder if "DX" as he's known as, could be included in the first round of cuts.  He's a good guy, who's been through a lot (five surgeries on same knee), so I hope he stays around, but professional sports is a 'what can you do for me now' business so we shall wait and see with Alexander.

The Rams rush defense bounced back from last week.  The Chiefs running attack of Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones combined for over 2,300 yards last season; Saturday night each carried twice for 8 total yards.  There's no way the Rams rush defense was as bad as they showed against the Titans, so i was glad to see the unit respond.  Now can they be consistent is the question?

Coach Spagnuolo said during a conference call Saturday that he expects to make the first round of cuts Sunday or Monday. Nine players should be cut.
