ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – One man was shot at least four times after he pulled a knife on an officer as she was attempting to arrest him Friday morning in south St. Louis County.
The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. in the 8200 block of Marvale Lane in Affton, Missouri.
Authorities said the suspect, 34-year-old Jeffery Thompson, was wanted for a domestic incident that took place on Tuesday. He was also wanted for violating a protection order. A female officer, who is a 10-year veteran, spotted the suspect outside his mother's home. When the officer approached the suspect, he became combative. The officer was forced to Taser the man, but he pulled the Taser out of his skin and attempted to assault.
Officials said the suspect managed to get into the officer's car and appeared to be stealing it, but the officer grabbed the suspect and pulled him out of the vehicle. That's when police say, the suspect pulled out a knife and made a move toward the officer. The officer quickly drew her gun and shot the suspect.
Officials said the suspect was transported to Barnes-Jewish Hospital. He was last listed in critical, but stable condition.
Thompson has been charged with four counts of first degree burglary, one count of second degree robbery, one count of resisting arrest and one count of second degree assault on a police officer.
