One person injured, another arrested after stolen car crash

(KMOV) -- One person is injured and another person was arrested after crashing a stolen car in DeSoto, MO late Thursday evening.

The car was stolen from an area near 9th and Jefferson Street sometime after midnight.

Authorities say they received a report of a vehicle being broken into, and after police arrived on the scene the suspects fled  the area in the stolen vehicle.

A DeSoto Police Officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver failed to yield. During the pursuit, an unidentified passenger jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot.

As police pursued the stolen vehicle, the driver crashed in an area near Liberty School Road and Whitehead Road in rural Hillsboro, MO.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as a 26-year-old male from Fenton, MO. Police say the driver was injured following the crash and was transported to a St. Louis-area hospital. The extent of his injuries are not known at this time.

A 19-year-old female passenger, from High Ridge, MO was also arrested on the scene shortly after the crash. Police arrested the woman on charges for Tampering in the 2nd degree, however she was later released and is pending application of warrants.
