SHILOH, Ill. (KMOV) -- Shiloh police have arrested and charged a landlord accused with hitting a tenant with his vehicle late Thursday evening.
The incident took place on Sarpey Drive in Shiloh, Illinois around 10:30 p.m.
Authorities say the landlord, Hassan Abrahim, ran over 40-year-old John Wilson and left the scene shortly after hitting the man.
Police were able to track down and arrest Abrahim shortly after the accident occurred.
Authorities say the victim was transported to St. Elizabeth's hospital, but the extent of his injuries is not known at this time.
In the past, Abrahim was connected to a story previously reported by News 4 that accused the landlord of stealing electricity from his tenants at an apartment complex in Shiloh.
The victim, John Wilson, was not featured in the original story aired on News 4 but had expressed complaints about Abrahim in the past.
It is not clear at this time if this accident occurred in connection with Abrahim's previous accusation of stealing electricity from tenants.
Authorities say Abrahim has not been formally charged with stealing electricity from his tenants at this time. However, he was charged with one felony count of aggravated battery and is being held in the St. Clair County Jail on a $30,000 bond.
Shiloh police have investigated the charges pending against Abrahim for stealing electricity, but turned the case over to the state attorney to determine if charges should be filed.
