(KMOV) – A south St. Louis County viewer contacted News 4 after a large pothole caused serious damage to her vehicle.
County leaders were not able to answer who is responsible for the the pothole problem on Chateau De Ville in Mehlville because the county has jurisdiction on one side of the street, and the Missouri Department of Transportation has the other side.
As for what’s in between, the county says it’s a “no-man’s land” scenario.
The county says when the road was built, it belonged to a private subdivision or possibly an apartment or condo association. It is now trying to determine who privately maintains the road, and hopes to have an answer soon.
Residents say the pothole problem has persisted for years, and no one has ever come out to make repairs.
