(KMOV.com) -- A dangerous new drug has hit St. Louis streets and authorities say it is especially enticing to children.

The new drug is called "Foxy Methoxy."  Officials say it has been on St. Louis streets for about two months.  The drug is a hallucinogenic and gives the user a high similar to the high from Ecstasy.  The drug comes in a powder form, but it is more commonly found in pill form.

Authorities said it is more enticing to children because the drug usually comes with some sort of cartoon character on the front label.

St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce said, "The pills will have some sort of embossing on it, a character from The Simpsons, Family Guy or Transformers; something like that."

Another danger of the drug is that users will need to take increasing amounts to get high, which can lead to overdose.

For parents concerned if their child is using the drug, you should watch for your child becoming more hyper or erratic.
