(KMOV) -- Police are searching for the person responsible for shooting and killing a 36-year-old woman on a fast food parking lot in north St. Louis late Tuesday evening.

The shooting took place at the White Castle located at the intersection of Natural Bridge and Kingshighway around 11:40 p.m.

Police say Angie Young of the 5700 block of Hamilton was shot several times, once in the head, while sitting in a car outside the restaurant. Officials say the suspect is a man in his 20s or early 30s. He was reportedly seen firing numerous shots into the vehicle before running to a truck parked nearby. He then fled the scene.

According to police, the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital following the shooting and died shortly after arrival.

Police say the woman was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the shooting.

The woman had a 15-year-old daughter. She also worked at Delmar Gardens, a senior citizen center, as a Certified Medical Technician.
