(KMOV) – A 42-year-old man was hospitalized from smoke inhalation Monday after allegedly setting fire to a south St. Louis apartment after a domestic dispute with his girlfriend, officials say.

This happened in the 3500 block of Roger shortly before 1 a.m.

The suspect, Jeffrey Shane, tried to extinguish the fire, but was not able to do so.

Fire officials put out the blaze, and the damage was contained to that apartment only.

The suspect’s girlfriend, a 46-year-old woman, was not hurt.

A warrant was issued for Shane for second degree arson, and bond was set at $10,000, cash only.
