St. Louis Art Museum to decide on hiring consultant to evaluate salaries

(KMOV) – The St. Louis Art Museum’s Compensation Committee is meeting this week to consider hiring a consultant to evaluate the museum director’s salary.

Museum Director Brent Benjamin’s $639,000 salary will not be evaluated until the end of the year, but bylaws require the museum’s board members to hire an outside firm at least once every three years to conduct the evaluation.

The board members have budgeted $10,000 for the consultant, but will most likely not bring in the consultant to review employee salaries because a review was conducted a year and a half ago.

News 4 discovered the art museum director in Kansas City makes $801,000 which is the most in the region.
