(KMOV) – A Madison County golf course will soon be given $200,000 in grants to pave a new golf cart path.
The money that will be given to the Legacy Golf Course is from a special tax district to fund parks and recreational areas in Madison County.
Helen Hawkins has spent years trying to get help for her community which has homes built on a slough. Many of the basements in those homes are not used because of water problems. She believes that money would be better spent on those homes because a buyout is the only answer for the homeowners.
The Madison County Parks and Recreation Department has told News 4 that the improvements to the golf course are necessary to stay competitive with other courses in the area.
