St. Louis (KMOV.com) -- The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that Pitching Coach Dave Duncan will take a leave of absence from the ball club.

According to a new release issued by the ballclub on Monday afternoon, Duncan’s wife, Jeanine, underwent major surgery on Sunday and will require additional tests and rehabilitation.

The Cardinals say that Duncan will remain with his wife during this period.
