(KMOV)-- MoDOT showing some creativity here... They've created a smartphone application called, "Show Me My Buzz."
I downloaded it and showed it to about a dozen passersby downtown. Everyone thought it was pretty neat.
You plug in your weight and gender... the amount of time you're drinking... and what you're drinking. One beer, two beers, a glass of wine... liquor... whatever.
As you increase the number of drinks it tells you if you're buzzed and goes a level further saying "don't even think about it," regarding getting behind a wheel.
MODOT says the idea is to get people thinking about the impact alcohol has on them and realize it affects everyone a little differently... The main point is to get you to always have a sober driver around.
Another cool aspect of the app... a taxi logo... you hit it and a number from an area taxi company pops up. With a press of a button you call a taxi... No need to go on line to look up a number.
