(KMOV) – A man faces charges after he allegedly held a woman at gunpoint and forced her to walk with him during a robbery attempt in south St. Louis park on Tuesday.
Jerald Harris was charged with first-degree robbery, two counts of armed criminal action, kidnapping and resisting arrest.
According to police, the victim was on the sidewalk outside her work near the intersection of Louisiana and Gasconade when Harris walked up and pointed a gun at her.
Police said Harris told her “I don’t want to hurt you, just give me your money.”
Authorities said Harris then grabbed her arm and forced her to walk with him through Marquette Park for about three to five minutes.
Police said an officer then spotted Harris with his arm around the victim’s neck at the park.
Harris then took off running after the officer started approaching. The officer caught up to Harris after chasing him for about a block and a half.
Police said a .32 Smith and Wesson revolver was later found under a bush Harris ran past during the pursuit.
