(BaseballStL) -- One night after sitting through two weather delays totaling five hours and 32 minutes, the St. Louis Cardinals will not have to play baseball at 3 a.m., after officials postponed the series opener against the San Francisco Giants on Friday.
The game, which was scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m., was placed in a weather delay as the impending storms made its way to the St. Louis metro area. The tarp was placed over the field after the traditional first pitches were thrown and the National Anthem was performed.
The postponement should benefit the Cardinals, who finished up the series finale against the Kansas City Royals at 3:14 p.m. on Friday morning.
The game will be played at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday as part of a doubleheader. The game scheduled for 6:15 p.m. will remain the same.
