(KMOV) The body of Bobbie Billups, a St. Louis man missing since May 20th, was found in the Mississippi River Monday.
For a week, the search for the 54-year-old Billups focused on Merchant's Bridge located at 1st. Ferry Street near downtown, St. Louis after witnesses reported a vehicle submerged in the water.
On May 20th, authorities responded to a "call for police" after the caller advised he was invovled in a fishing accident with the victim.
Upon police arrival, the caller told authorities that Billups entered the witness's vehicle to restart the vehicle while they listened to music.
Moments later, the witness then observed the vehicle roll backwards into the river with the victim still in the vehicle.
The witness entered the river in an attempt to extract the victim from the vehicle, but was unsuccesful.
Additional fishers told authorities they observed the victim floating facedown in the river and advised officers that he appeared lifeless.
