(KMOV.com) Missouri high school students have rebuilt an older Volkswagen into an electric car. They claim the car can now run on social media fuel.
Every time a tweet is sent inside the car, a signal is sent to a box in the engine that starts the car up. Every tweet, Facebook like and Instagram share gets routed through a server that powers the car. If the car does not receive enough social buzz, the little box can cut power to the engine.
The students plan to test the long distance capabilities of the redesigned VW next week when they drive from Kansas City to Washington, D.C.
