Firefighters believe two vacant home fires are connected in East St. Louis

(KMOV.com) -- Two vacant homes in East St. Louis caught fire just one block away from another in East St. Louis.

The first home is located in the 400 block of St. Thomas while the second is in the 500 clock of St. Cecilia.

Firefighters on the scene said no one was injured in either the fire.

Smoke could be seen billowing out from the home on St. Thomas.

News 4 asked fire officials if they believed the two fires were related to one another. Officials said it is too early in the investigation, but they believed they were.

No word on how the fire started.
