ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – St. Louis County police continue to search for a rapist they say targeted women of Asian descent in the northwest part of the county the past two summers.
Police say the latest attack occurred on Sept. 9 when an 18-year-old woman was home from a friend’s house in Maryland Heights. She told police the suspect sexually assaulted her near the intersection of Bennington Place and Fee Fee Road, not far from Parkway North High School.
The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The first incident happened in April, 2011 when a 27-year-old woman was attacked in an apartment along the 10300 block of Sannois.
Police say DNA from both cases match.
They are also looking at other possible connections to similar rapes in New York, Maryland and San Diego.
The St. Louis County Police Department held an informational town hall meeting in October at Parkway North High School to discuss the incidents.
“We just wanted to remind our citizens that we remain diligent and haven’t stopped looking for this individual,” said St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch. “Often times, the smallest piece of information from a citizen turns the tide during these investigations.”
Police describe the suspect as a short, heavy set Hispanic male who’s about 40 years old. He’s about 5-foot-6 and weighs around 200 pounds.
Authorities said they will be checking DNA databases for more clues and leads.
