Twist of fate saves St. Louis County woman during severe storms

JENNINGS, Mo.—A suburban St. Louis woman believes a short walk to get a flashlight during a storm saved her life.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the Jennings home of Beatrice Flieger, 78, lost power at the height of a severe storm Monday night. She had to get up from her kitchen chair to get a flashlight in the bedroom.
Seconds later, winds knocked over a massive tree that crashed through the roof and crushed the chair she had just walked away from.
