(CBS) -- A man died at Candlestick Park in San Francisco at the start of a 49ers-Packers game Sunday afternoon, CBS affiliate KCBS reports.
Police said the man, in his 30s, was walking with his brother on and elevated walkway at around 1:30 p.m. when he fell onto a sidewalk and suffered serious injuries. The Jamestown walkway goes around the Candlestick Park football stadium.
Multiple witnesses said the man appeared to be intoxicated at the time of his fall. It was not immediately clear how many feet he had fallen.
The victim died of his injuries. His identity is being withheld pending notification to his family.
In a statement published on NFL.com, the 49ers said they “would like to express our deepest condolences to the family during this difficult time.”
Last month, a man attending an Atlanta Braves’ baseball game fell to his death some 65 feet from an upper-level platform.
