(KMOV.com) -- A disturbing post has been popping up on local Facebook forums with a woman claiming she will hand over her baby, if you hand more than $3,000 in cash.

“The very first thing I thought was oh, let me help this woman,” said Lisa Walls who saw the post on Facebook, “It wasn’t just on one group, it was on two, at least that I know of.”

But if you send an email to the poster, you get a drawn out love story, a link to the supposed adoption agency in Cameroon Africa, and a request for $3900.

Send your $3900 and you too could have a baby.

We took all the evidence to Washington University Professor Scott Ganneman.

“There is no doubt in my mind this is a scam,” he said.

Ganneman discovered the website was created just a few weeks ago, by a man who lives in Colorado. News 4 called them up, but no one answered.

Ganneman said social media users are especially vulnerable to scammers.

“The thing is, don’t take their word for it, always do your own research and follow up,” Ganneman said.

Luckily, Walls didn’t fall for it.

“I really think personally, they should be held accountable,” Walls said, “It’s scary, it really is.”
