(KMOV) – Kirkwood Police have charged two St. Louis County men following the investigation into a reported shooting that occurred in Meacham Park on Wednesday, August 28, 2013.

Daron Parker, 19, Marcus Marvel Tatum, 29, were each charged Thursday with felony first-degree assault and felony armed criminal action according to authorities.

Kirkwood police said witnesses told officers Parker and Tatum approached a man in the 400 block of York Street around 8 p.m. and after a brief verbal altercation, reportedly fired shots at the victim.

The victim was not struck by any of the gunshots.  However, the victim’s dog was struck and killed by one of the bullets during the shooting.

According to police, a nearby van and two homes were also struck by bullets.  Shell casings were also found in two large areas of the park.

Tatum and Parker were located and arrested by police several hours later.

Police said Parker admitted being present at the time of the shooting and arguing with the victim, but denied firing any shots.  Tatum refused to make any statement to police.

Parker is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center.

The investigation is ongoing.
