Suspect in custody following lengthy pursuit through 3 Missouri counties

(KMOV) – A suspect is in custody following an hour-long police pursuit which began in Washington County and ended in Arnold Monday evening. 

The chase reportedly began in Washington County around 4 p.m. after, police say, the suspect attempted to hit a police officer before fleeing. 

A pursuit ensued as the suspect traveled north on Highway 21 toward Hillsboro on Highway A. 

The chase continued onto northbound Interstate 55 into Festus as the suspect got off at Highway 61/67 into Herculaneum. 

St. Louis County Police have confirmed the suspect was involved in an accident with a De Soto police cruiser in Jefferson County during the chase. 

The chase continued after the suspect ran over several rounds of spike strips deployed by officers along the pursuit route. 

Police confirm the suspect was taken into custody shortly after crossing into St. Louis County. Arnold Police Officers took the suspect into custody at Telegraph and Tenbrook Roads just before 5 p.m. 

Further details were not immediately known.
